Il processo MIG/MAG è il più diffuso nella carpenteria metallica. Principi, parametri e difetti comuni.
La saldatura MIG/MAG (Metal Inert Gas / Metal Active Gas) è il processo ad arco più utilizzato nella carpenteria metallica strutturale. Identificato come processo 135 (MAG con gas attivo) e 136 (MAG con filo animato) secondo ISO 4063.
Un filo elettrodo continuo viene alimentato attraverso una torcia e fuso dall’arco elettrico. Il gas di protezione (tipicamente Ar+CO₂ per il MAG) protegge il bagno di fusione dall’ossidazione. Il filo funge sia da elettrodo che da materiale d’apporto.

MIG (Metal Inert Gas) usa gas inerti puri come l’Argon. MAG (Metal Active Gas) usa gas attivi o miscele (Ar+CO₂). Nella carpenteria strutturale si usa quasi sempre il MAG (processo 135), più economico e versatile.
